Bilingual Secondary School Rheinfelden with an individual learning approach

SY1 to SY3 (Grades 7 to 9): For students aged 12 to 16 who are interested in a holistic, bilingual education in an international environment.

Our Bilingual Secondary School I is a state-recognized full-day school. Teaching is conducted in German and English and enriched by creative modules such as Creaviva, where artistic activities are combined with practicing foreign languages. Our educational concept follows the curriculum of the Canton of Aargau at both Bezirksschule and Sekundarschule levels, implemented bilingually and enhanced with a forward-thinking approach.

In addition, we specifically promote STEM skills in our ipso! Sciences module through hands-on, interdisciplinary projects. In the ipso! Life module, students develop essential life skills in Design Technology, Fabric Design, and Food Technology. They strengthen fine motor skills, explore nature and ecosystems, and build empathy and social competence through projects and internships.

Individual talents are supported across classes and grade levels, while students who need more time are given targeted support. An additional 10th school year can be completed at our sister school, ipso! Haus des Lernens

Secondary School Rheinfelden: Exams, graduation and next steps

Exams and performance assessment

Our students complete the cantonal Check Tests, providing a clear external assessment of their performance and a direct comparison with the public school system.

Recognized graduation

At the end of their school years, students receive a graduation certificate recognized by all further education institutions, opening up a wide range of future pathways.

Strong pathways – local and international

After Year 2 (SY2), high-performing students can transfer directly to Bezirksschule in Rheinfelden or Möhlin without an entrance exam. After Year 3 (SY3), students can enter Gymnasium in Aargau or the Basel area by passing the entrance exam.

Alternatively, many students choose individual pathways such as further education, apprenticeships, or international programs. High-achieving students may enter an international college and prepare for Cambridge qualifications (IGCSE and A-Levels), opening doors to universities worldwide – often from the age of 16.

The combination of a local curriculum and an international approach ensures maximum flexibility and seamless transitions – in Switzerland and beyond.
